Delightful Dress: Maxi Dresses from Yours Clothing

Maxi dresses are a wardrobe staple for the warmer months, but they could also be worn when it's colder - just team with a great denim jacket for an offbeat, pretty look.  And what better time to stock up on maxis than the end of summer sales, especially when so many companies are slashing their sale prices even more.

Yours Clothing has been having a sale for a while, but there is now a further 20% off sale prices so there are some real bargains to be had.  They've got quite a few lovely maxi dresses and I've picked out two that I especially like.  The first is this mint green bird print dress.  The colour is lovely and the print feminine and delicate.  The shape, with the elasticated, cinched waist and flared skirt, is flattering and it will be so easy to wear.  Originally £35, it's been reduced to £19.20 but unfortunately it's only available in a size 16.
The second comes in a better variety of sizes and is a fantastic colour combination and shape. It's this feather print maxi dress in fuchsia pink, yellow and turquoise.   The empire line flatters most shapes and will make the most of the bust!  And the colours are simply stunning.  It's available in sizes 20, 22 and 30-32 and again, has been reduced from £35 to £19.20.

Delightful Dress: New Romantics He Loves Me Best Dress from Free People

I love the boutique Free People as its product range successfully combines femininity and romanticism with edginess and sass.   There are so many gorgeous items available in their sale, but my favourite dress is this cream coloured dotted chiffon maxi dress.  It's ruffle-y, delicate and light yet unconventional - I love the quirkiness of the asymmetric, tiered bottom and crochet trimming and studs around the waist.  This means it can be styled as in the picture, with Doc Martens and chunky, metallic accessories - or keep it floaty and light with some strappy flat sandals.  Originally £250, it's currently £169.95 in the sale in sizes US 4 to 8 (8 to 12 UK).
While I am at it, I'm going to throw in this fab twisted snake ring which is just awesome.  It's also on sale, reduced from £20 to £16.95.  It would go perfectly with the dress, I feel!

Delightful Dress: Super Maxi Vest Dress from Superdry

There's nothing better than a fantastic maxi dress that can be thrown on on a hot Summer's day which will see one through until the evening.  Even better when the dress is 100% cotton, great quality, comes in a variety of colours and patterns and has free delivery!  That's what one can get with this gorgeous maxi from Superdry.  My favourite is the hot pink stripe (shown), but I'm also quite partial to the nautical navy stripe.  Not only is this dress great for daytime Summer wear, but it's perfect for the beach, thrown over swimwear when it's time for food and/or cocktails!  It's £39.99 and available in sizes 8 to 14.

Delightful Dress: JS Collections Beaded Keyhole Maxi Dress from House of Fraser

What do you get if you combine the superb Eurovision Song Contest with the amazing Game of Thrones's Daenerys Targaryen ?  You get Norway's 2013 entry from Margaret Berger!  This was by far my favourite contestant, in part for the song but mainly for the fabulous fantasy-inspired fashion.  It would have been even more perfect with some swarthy men and dragons on stage, but that may be just me.

In homage to both women, I have found this gorgeous midnight blue beaded maxi dress on sale at House of Fraser.  It has the embellished silver beading details around the halter neck and shoulder area which mimics both Margaret and Daenerys's styles but it's not over the top!  The shape and cut is classic - almost a Grecian style - to create an elegant and shimmering look.  It's been reduced from £180 to £108 and is available in sizes 10 to 20.

Splendid Skirt: Jasmin Chevron Stripe Black & White Maxi Skirt from Phase Eight

Phase Eight are offering customers 20% off everything on the site at the moment, which is great news as I've had my eye on a few choice pieces for a while!  Bang on trend is this monochrome striped maxi skirt, which is reduced from £69 to £55.20 and available in sizes 8 to 18.  I'd team it with a simple, white vest top and a black and white, contrasting patterned blazer to develop Paul and Joe's SS13 catwalk style in a savvy way.

It also comes in navy and beige, but I prefer the black and white!

Delightful Dress: Fionna Chiffon Butterfly Print Open Back Maxi Dress from Boohoo.com

There are so many benefits to wearing a maxi dress.  They work with all shapes and sizes, they can be dressed up or down, they are comfortable, come in all sorts of styles, patterns and colours and one doesn't have to keep legs silky smooth during the summer months!

I love this butterfly print maxi dress from Boohoo.com.  The print is pretty, tasteful and delicate   The higher neck and shoulder straps keep the style dignified and classy, but the open back gives is a subtle quirkiness.  I like the way they have styled it in the image, with a slim brown belt, which is very flattering.

It's £30 and avaiable in sizes S - M (about 10 - 14).  But until 28th April, there is 10% off at Boohoo.com with the code TREAT4U.

Delightful Dress: Traffic People Flaming Flamingos Blessings Dress at Get the Label

I do like a maxi dress.  It's so versatile as it can be worn casually or dressed up for a more formal occasion and it suits all body sizes and shapes.  And I love this flamingo print dress from online store Get the Label.  The print is really cute and quirky without being too much.  And the cut of the dress makes it easy wearing and flattering, with the wide shoulder straps and cinched waist.  And best of all, the RRP was £66.99 but it's only £14.99 at Get the Label!
